My favorite art quote

"The creation of art is not the fulfillment of a need but the creation of a need. The world never needed Beethoven's Fifth Symphony until he created it. Now we could not live without it."

~ Louis Kahn, architect

Does anyone really need another necklace? No, but once you see it, you know you gotta have it!

I like that quote-it's true to a degree. The point where I differ (because of my own experiences): what about the creator? The creator of any artistic piece envisions the piece, and has to make it reality. For example, Beethoven. I imagine it would have driven him insane not to put the 5th onto paper, and make it real. What if he'd only been able to keep it in his head?

Just a question to ponder about artists.

You are so right! Creating is totally different from consuming :-)
