Summer is coming, even in New England! It seems like it just takes forever to get here, but once the warm weather rolls in, the gorgeous summer flowers begin to pop out on a daily basis.
I made this necklace to showcase some beautiful glass beads that Artbeads.com sent me. They turned out to be even more lovely in person than online - the detail on these small beads is amazing. Someone with a much more steady hand than I created these!
Materials & Tools
Purple Flowers with Purple and Hot Pink Center Mix Pillow Beads
SoftFlex beading wire
Size 6/0 seed beads
2mm gunmetal rounds
Silver daisy spacers
6mm lavendar amethyst rounds
4mm lavendar amethyst rounds
8mm purple/gold facetted firepolished rounds
2mm crimp tubes
Silver heart toggle
Flat nose pliers
1. Center your lampwork beads on a piece of beading wire. I used 24" since I wanted the necklace to end up being around 20". I used small gunmetal rounds and large seed beads to separate them.
2. String the two strands, ending with a tube crimp and one more bead. I chose to alternate groups of 6mm amethyst beads with crystals. To give the strands a bit more interest, I broke up the groups of stone beads with some silver daisy spacers and seed beads. At the end of the strands, I switched to 4mm amethyst beads.
3. Add a toggle clasp and bar to the end of the strands. Take your wire back down through the last bead and the crimp and pull snug. Flatten the crimp tube and clip the wire close. Add a crimp cover over each tube.
4. The finished necklace. Very classic and elegant. Perfect for my mother...shhh...don't tell her!
