Book review and giveaway: Making Mixed-Media Art Charms and Jewelry

Making Mixed Media Art Charms and Jewelry

What could be more fun than making, swapping, collecting, and wearing little art charms?  Peggy Krzyzewski and Christine Hansen don't just enjoy making art charms, they are also involved in the larger community of artists who love trading them!  Now in Making Mixed-Media Art Charms and Jewelry, you can learn their tricks for making a wide variety of these little gems.

The book is arranged by materials, so that you can decide at a glance whether you want to concentrate on wood, fiber, glass, metal, resin, paper, found objects, polymer clay, or plastic.  There is a section near the end of the book that shows you some ideas for using your charms in finished pieces, and a section covering how to get involved in swaps.  I am happy to say that basic techniques and safety concerns (especially when working with found objects) are also covered very well in this book.  I truly think there is something here for jewelry artists of every level.

***Free Stuff Alert!!!***

Would you like to win a free copy of Peggy and Christine's book?  Just leave me a comment below and you'll automatically be entered.  If you tweet or post on Facebook or other social spots about the contest, you can leave a second comment and be entered twice!  Deadline: August 17, 2010.

I just found your blog through Art Bead Scene and am glad that I did. I love your work. In anticipation downsizing to a smaller house, I've spent a week cleaning and organizing my studio. I dare say I have enough doo-dads to make a thousand (no joke) charms. I'd love to own a copy of this book. Thanks and I've added you to my RSS feed so I won't miss another posting from you. VBG

I love, love, love charms. I've been in several swaps and used a bunch on the bottom of an art quilt as a fringe!
